Pure Caffeine rant
Nathanael Boehm, of pureCaffeine rants thus: "Basically that the Internet is a totally viable reality into which you can extend yourself. Your online identity is no less “real” than your primary - regardless of how creative you’ve been with it.
The thought that sparked this is the rant that some may have heard from parents “You spend way too much time on that computer!” … sometimes perhaps even followed with “You should get out more!”.
Examining this evidence, it would appear that some in this generation who might say such things are not aware of the cultural changes that have taken place over recent years. I believe it is perfectly acceptable to state that the Internet and the online medium is just as much a reality as that away from the Internet - and those of us who spend copious amounts of time online would realise this... - perhaps one day the rant will be “You spend way too much time away from your computer!”"
Heh, i like his mood, and agree with his comments above... tho, i would: i also spend copious amounts of time on my computer... Made all the more evident after this simple little application PC Time (don't let it scare you)

Thanks Jace :-)
Luckily (from one point of view) I work on a laptop, so I can't have it running 24*7 otherwise I'd be getting plenty more Page Faults from overheating problems!
But as much as possible, I live in this space, rather than the space many people still refer to as the "real" world. Just unfortunate that in this case, interfacing with this reality is partly dictated by both my job, and the technical limitations of running a 1.4M Intel processor in a 3/4" high plastic and metal box.
Oh, and just downloaded that PC time tool; I'm impressed! I average over 7.5 hours per day ... and that's on top of my 8 hour a day job!
One day we'll be able to get elective surgery to get a Firewire (or next generation thereof) port installed in our heads, so we can just plug straight into the Internet with full VR capabilities.
Now there's an idea for a movie ......
this "one point of view" you mention Nathanael, is it yours? or your significant others? :)
i dance the proverbial line, real world vs. interwebness. So far, i dance it ok... we'll see how it all plays out.
Glad you liked the PC time tool i linked... i don't recall why i even found it ( i seriously doubt i intentionally WANTED to know just how much time i spend...) but either way, i've got it, now you've got it... and it is good.
"From one point of view" = The average of assessments delivered by the largest in number yet least effective group in the world, the Mediocritists, used as a zero reference for all tangents traversed by others.
I'm tired :)
